The Original Vandellas!!

Yesterday, I went to the Summer Showcase at the Metropolitan Methodist Church. The groups that performed were Serioux, and the Original Vandellas. I have seen Martha Reeves perform in concert, but this was the first time I got a chance to see the Original Vandellas. This year, Martha Reeves and the Original Vnadellas are celebrating the 50th anniversary of their song, "Dancing In The Street".

I really enjoyed the performance, and as I watched the ladies perform, I remebered the time when I was in a girl group called Pure Honey. We performed songs from the Marvelettes, the Surpremes, as well as Martha Reeves and the Vandellas. Before I joined this group, I wasn't into the 60's musice much...of course there were some songs I liked, but music of the 60's wasd not my listening choice. Once I started to perform the girl group songs, I began to have a healthy appreciation for the music. The songs were well written, they were about real life situations, and they made you want to sing them.

As the Original Vendella's sang, I was sitting near the front, and I couldn't help but to stand on my feet, singing and dancing along with them. I knew every song, and I was glad I was able to attend.

The group Serioux gave an energetice performance, singing the music of the Temptations as well as other male groups from the 60's and 70's. I even got pulled out of my seat and danced with one of the members.

This concert was a lot of fun, and the best part is, the whole family could attend! There was a lot of choldren there gettin' down to the 60' sound!
